Is the writing any better in this book,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? Because it was absolutely awful in the first,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It was as if Del Toro had made a great outline and passed it on to junior high school student to write it for him,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Don't believe me? Just count the number of similes (like a,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as a,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], etc.) that appear on a page. But in the end,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the results are unintentionally hilarious.
The other problem is that Setrakian is a buffoon. He is an over-the-top Hammer-style character. By itself,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that is perfectly fine. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this completely undercuts the emotional weight of his Holocaust survivor past. The juxtaposition is jarring.
